Brubeck project 2012 P6-Orchestre Symphonique de Bretagne LP-Orchestre de Picardie Music

Orchestre de Bretagne invites world famous jazzman and composer Dave Brubeck for the European premiere of his latest orchestra piece “Ansel Adams' America”. Rather than Paris or London, in October 2012, this premiere is presented in Rennes and Saint-Brieuc. This follows a residency in Brittany, where Orchestre de Bretagne and Orchestre de Picardie join their forces to promote this iconic repertoire with the addition of some brass musicians from member orchestras of ONE®-an Orchestra Network for Europe project (see www.orchestranetwork.eu).

In the early summer of 2013, Royal Opera House Education and Thurrock Music Services host a public performance of a Brubeck programme with related master classes in Essex.

These performances and their rehearsals engage young students from France (Conservatory of Music in Lorient, specialized arts classes and attendees from “l’Estran” in Guidel) and England (Melbourn Village College, Royal Opera House Education and Thurrock Music Services) to follow the creative process.

In July 2013 when Orchestre de Bretagne and Chris Burbeck go to Essex for a “classics meet the jazz” performance, the students from Thurrock Music Services benefit from what the French students had in October 2012.
